Article: Guard jailed on culpable homicide charge

A SECURITY guard was jailed six years at the Ipoh High Court yesterday after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder of a mute three years ago.

Justice Datuk V.T. Singham ordered the sentence on Tong Kong Mim to run from the date of his arrest on July 21, 2000.

The 50-year-old had earlier claimed trial to murder but changed his plea after Singham, at the close of the prosecution"s case, amended the charge to one of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and ordered him to enter his defence.
