KUALA LUMPUR: The decision by the Government to take in more non-
Malay students into universities will yield a win-win situation for
all parties, say many respondents interviewed by The Malay Mail in a
street poll yesterday.
They feel that it would lead to healthier competition among
students and would spur everybody to work harder.
However, one of them questioned whether there will be enough
places to accommodate all the students who qualify.
Higher Learning Minister Datuk Dr Shafie Mohd Salleh announced
yesterday that more non-Malay students will be admitted into public
universities this year as the Government stays the course with the
merit system.
