Article: Toxic waste dumping query

TAIWAN is not taking it back and Malaysia appears to be saddled with some 12,000 metric tons of toxic waste imported into the country by a local company.

The topic was raised by DAP Batu Gajah member Fong Po Kuan.

Fong said that during the last session of the House, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment had conceeded that toxic waste had been brought into the country.

The Ministry had said the importer used falsified documents to bring in the material.

Fong said subsequently it was revealed that 386 containers contained toxic waste and of this, 223 were found at the Pasir Gudang port in Johor.
