Article: Companies take a beating

ELEVEN per cent of mother stocks listed on Bursa Malaysia Bhd, slumped to their lowest level in 52 trading weeks yesterday, on concerns that foreign funds might be cashing out from the market.

A check by Mail Money showed that 95 stocks or 11 per cent of stocks traded on the exchange had slumped to their lowest level in 52 weeks.

Among the companies whose shares were at their lowest ebb in almost a year were profitable entities such as Gamuda Bhd, Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) and MMC Corp Bhd.

Gamuda, one of Malaysia's largest construction groups, closed at RM4.82, while AZRB and MMC closed at RM2.05 and RM1.85 respectively.
