HONG KONG: The hearing to collect evidence in the Tan Sri Eric
Chia criminal breach of trust (CBT) case is not an abuse of the
judicial process as claimed by the defence.
"This is part of the judicial process," Attorney-General Tan Sri
Gani Patail said yesterday following the conclusion of the hearing to
collect evidence in the CBT case.
Gani said the hearing in Hong Kong is a new field that most people
are not particularly aware of.
"It is a new procedure, even to us," he said.
He said there are two ways of collecting evidence. One is the co-
operation between the enforcement agencies to give intelligence to
each other.
