Article: Bread and noodles may cost 6pc more from next month

THE prices of wheat flour-based food products such as bread, noodles and biscuits may increase by as much as six per cent, by as early as next month due to a scheduled increase in flour prices by April 1, an industry executive said yesterday.

A 22 per cent increase in flour price, will increase bread, noodles and biscuit makers' costs by between five per cent and six per cent, Mail Money was told. Flour is the main ingredient in the manufacture of these goods.

The consensus was that manufacturers are unlikely to absorb the cost, hence they will likely pass on the costs to consumers.
