Article: Hoteliers to standardise room rates

THE Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) expects all hotels and resorts in Malaysia to quote their room rates in US dollars or euros for international markets by as early as next month, said the association's secretary general Samual S.H. Cheah.

"Hoteliers should introduce their room rates in US dollars or euros when they sell their rooms to foreigners as this will enhance the tourism industry and benefit all domestic players," said Cheah.

Cheah told Mail Money that major players in the industry which included Tourism Malaysia, has also agreed to impose a minimum rate of US$80 (RM300) per room night for a five star hotel as a benchmark for international markets as opposed to the US$100 ...
