MALAYSIANS, especially chocolate lovers, can heave a sigh of
relief as the seven types of Cadbury chocolates reported to have been
recalled due to salmonella contamination are not marketed here and
not produced locally.
"None of the seven types reported are available in the Malaysian
market, " said managing director of Cadbury Confectionery (M) Sdn
Bhd, Blair Sailles, when contacted by The Malay Mail yesterday.
"About 95 per cent of the Cadbury chocolates here are produced
locally and only a small percentage is imported from Australia and
New Zealand and none from Britain."
He said Cadbury Malaysia will contact the Health Ministry to
reassure the public and to give their side of the story.
