Article: Shouting bout in court over `silly'

THE word `silly' caused a brief shouting match between lawyers holding a watching brief during the inquest of ophthalmologist Dr K. Rajamalika at the Shah Alam magistrate's court yesterday.

While counsel S. Bala was questioning witness K. Mohanadas, his lawyer, D.P. Vijandran said the counsel should get his questions right.

"He spent the whole day on Monday, and again today, asking silly questions. He should not be wasting our time," said Vijandran.

Bala then raised his voice, saying that Vijandran had called him silly.

Vijandran: "Don't misquote me. I did not call you silly. I said that you were asking silly questions."

Bala: "I am not shouting, I am speaking.
