The University of Richmond basketball team would like to play
Cinderella at least one more day, to retain the support of the Cole
Field House crowd for this afternoon's NCAA tournament second-round
game against Temple. John Chaney, the Owls' coach, isn't buying the
routine and hopes the fans won't either.
There is no question about the crowd favorite in the second game
though. Both North Carolina State and Oklahoma State expect
Maryland's Atlantic Coast Conference loyalists to back the Wolfpack.
Richmond, seeded 15th in the East, continued its history of NCAA
upsets by dumping No. 2 Syracuse 73-69 Thursday night in front of a
sellout crowd so bitten by Spider mania it even shouted down ...
