I've often thought the value of Wonder Bread as a sponge has
yet to be explored, and when you consider the cost of cleaning up
oil spills in the sea you must ask if Wonder Bread is not fully
competitive.
Just this week I was on jury duty and retired briefly to the
cafeteria of Superior Court, where, in a mad fit, I ordered two
pieces of toast. I believe they were Wonder Bread, as they had that
limp look when flung into a toasting machine. They came out somewhat
firmer and when painted with melted butter they absorbed a full
quarter of a pound.
I thought it a good buy for 20 cents.
