YORKSHIRE'S famous calendar girls graced the red carpets of
Hollywood yesterday as the hit British film of their story launched
the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
Director Nigel Cole's moving comedy Calendar Girls - based on
Rylstone WI's decision to strip for a charity calendar in 1999 -was
chosen for yesterday's opening star-studded gala night.
Six of the original calendar girls - Tricia Stewart, Angela Baker,
Beryl Bamforth, Lynda Logan, Christine Clancy and Ros Fawcett -
joined the films' stars including Dame Helen Mirren and Julie Walters
for the US premiere.
Actor Kevin Costner was among the big Hollywood names in the
opening night audience.
