THE FUTURE of private golf clubs was feared to be under threat
last night as Tory MPs warned that botched new licensing rules could
hit takings at the "19th hole".
They warned that clubs' famous bars could lose vital income as new
regulations could prevent visiting players from having a drink there
unless the clubs applied for costly new licences.
Led by Shadow Home Secretary David Davis, 33 Tory MPs urged the
Government to realise the danger and take action.
But last night, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport
insisted that golf club bars would not adversely affected.
