Bullets' Mascot `Hoops' Among the Missing;After Ejection on Thursday Night, Washington Has Big Blue Keeping a Low Profile

Last Thursday night, with 3:17 remaining in the Bullets-Trail Blazers game, "Hoops" exited the Capital Centre court a shaken mascot. He has not been seen since.

Hoops, who turned 3 earlier this season, was removed from the court, escorted by security, shortly after Bullets Coach Wes Unseld and players Darrell Walker and Pervis Ellison were tossed by referee Steve Javie. Their whereabouts have been accounted for.

Efforts to reach Hoops - roughly 6 feet 6, weight unknown, blue cap, orange basketball head, rim and net midsection (he seems to be dunking himself), dark shades and a painted-on smile - through the Bullets and independent sources to hear his side of the story all have hit dead ...
