A NEW force has been created in Sheffield to steer the city's hoped-for transformation into a major European economic power.

Creative Sheffield is expected to draw in up to [Pounds]80m of investment over the next decade.

If successful, regeneration bosses in the city say up to 16,000 jobs could be on the cards, especially around the Upper and Low Don Valley.

Tim Rippon, the council's Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, said the new public/private sector partnership would build on the massive successes of organisations like Sheffield One, the driving force behind the hugely successful Heart of the City programme.
