A YEAR after controversial plans to convert the historic Roundhay
Park Mansion in Leeds into council offices were ditched, councillors
will meet to discuss a new scheme which it is hoped will meet with
public approval.
Generations of Leeds families have patronised the building - the
centrepiece of the city's premier park which, until its closure last
year, was used as a bar, restaurant and function room.
When Leeds City Council unveiled plans to convert the mansion into
offices for parks department staff there was a public outcry, and
600 objections to the plans were received.
