Investment boosts ABP profit figures

ASSOCIATED BRITISH PORTS is on track to deliver profits following an [Pounds]87m investment at the port of Immingham on the Humber Estuary, which should contribute to profits in 2006.

Yesterday Associated British Ports posted an eight per cent rise in first-half profits to [Pounds]67m during the six months to June 30.

The group, which handles almost a quarter of the UK's sea trade through 21 ports including Grimsby, Immingham, Hull and Goole, said that it had benefited from property sales and a number of long-term contracts in the UK.
