Troublemakers held no fears for Church Army leader whose efforts
have earned him an accolade

WHEN Church Army captain John Hotchin and his wife Hilary took
over a tough inner city parish they were given a baptism of fire by
troublemakers who regarded the church grounds as their "turf".
St George's and the rectory in Marfleet, Hull, had been empty for
nearly two years as the Church of England struggled to find someone
to move in.
Although prevented from getting into the house, vandals had made a
den in the garage by making a hole in the roof and did not take
kindly to the invasion of their kingdom.
