A deal is in the works for real estate company Griffis/Blessing
Inc. to take over the historic Midland Terminal Railroad roundhouse
building, which has been the home of Van Briggle Art Pottery for
decades.
The building at 21st Street and U.S. Highway 24 has been for sale
or lease as Van Briggle has looked for a smaller location. The
planned move is the result of a drop in tourism at the plant and a
new strategic plan for the company, Van Briggle vice president Craig
Stevenson said.
Steve Engel, president of Griffis/Blessing, declined to reveal
plans for the building, saying the deal isn't finalized.
He indicated that retail uses are being considered and added, "We
