He's a self-made man who's a master of hiring and firing, but just
how successful is Sir Alan Sugar? Sarah Freeman reports.
The camera may never lie, but in The Apprentice it didn't quite
tell the whole truth.
Each time the candidates made their way to the boardroom for
ritual humiliation by Sir Alan Sugar, viewers were shown glamorous
footage of London's Canary Wharf, the glass-fronted buildings, the
achingly modern architecture, and shots of the most recent addition
to capital's skyline, the Gherkin.
The BBC never said it was the view from Sir Alan's office, but
they were happy to let us believe it was, happy not to show us the
real Amstrad headquarters in a non-descript redbrick building ...
