Article: Women are holding out for the [Pounds]50,000 a year males

Men need to earn about [Pounds]50,000 a year before women consider them to be wealthy and successful, it is revealed today.

One in ten women have higher expectations, looking for a salary of more than [Pounds]100,000, according to a survey carried out for National Savings and Investments, published today.

In contrast, men think women on about [Pounds]42,000 a year tick the wealthy and successful boxes.

In reality, men take home an average of [Pounds]1,490.80 a month ([Pounds]17,889 a year) compared to women's [Pounds]1,078.80.

Some 45 per cent of women say they rate a healthy bank balance as their top priority when looking for a partner compared with 22 per cent of men.
