Scam operation foiled by sharp-eyed director

A CONMAN was caught with thousands of pounds of counterfeit designer goods at his Yorkshire home after a company director spotted a golf club with his own firm's trademark being sold on the internet auction site eBay.

Leeds Crown Court heard yesterday that hundreds of items ranging from briefcases and wallets to suits and jackets and bearing bogus labels such as Armani, Prada and Gucci, were found when trading standards and police officers searched the address in Harrogate Road, Leeds.

The goods, which had been imported from the Far East, mainly Hong Kong and Thailand, were intended for future sale on eBay using accounts set up by Daniel Tamkin ...
