A YORKSHIRE entrepreneur who transformed a bankrupt car dealership into a multi-million pound empire has won a major business award.

Richard Teatum, founder of Doncaster-based Stoneacre, sold his first company for [Pounds]10m in 1994 and retired to Spain.

One month later he returned to Doncaster to buy a bankrupt car dealership called Stoneacre. Today the company owns 16 outlets which sell more than 400 new and used cars a week and has a turnover of [Pounds]143m. He was named Ernst & Young's North region 'Master Entrepreneur Of The Year' at a ceremony last night in Manchester.
