Article: CTA still leading teachers union

LONG BEACH - The California Teachers Association, which nearly a month ago took over the conflict-ridden Long Beach teachers' union, has decided to continue its supervision of the chapter but pledged to restore local control as soon as possible.

The board of directors of the statewide organization late Wednesday voted to continue the "trusteeship" of the Teachers Association of Long Beach, which since June has seen a heated, public split in its leadership.

The statewide union on Oct. 18 took control of TALB and placed former CTA President Barbara Kerr in charge as "trustee."
