Aliquippa Community Hospital asked a Beaver County court on
Thursday to OK its sale quickly to a private owner that could
provide capital and other support to help the facility return to
full compliance with state health regulations. Attorney Michael
Shiner, representing the hospital, said Commonwealth Medical Center,
a new company led by a veteran hospital administrator from Georgia,
is the expected bidder for the facility, which has 120 acute care
beds. The hospital's major lenders are owed $22 million, he said.
Approvals from Beaver County's Orphans Court, state health officials
and the state attorney general are needed for the hospital's sale
