Article: Smoking movie actors told to stub cigs out

ULSTER-born actor Kenneth Branagh is among a number of movie stars today criticised for 'glorifying' smoking by lighting up as the cameras are rolling.

A study published in the British Medical Journal - which coincides with World No Tobacco Day today - showed that pupils aged 9-15 who watched films with high levels of smoking were three times as likely to have tried smoking.

Other British stars slammed for choosing to smoke in films include Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Hurley, Ewan McGregor andHelena Bonham-Carter - while Sharon Stone is among US actors who have been criticised.
