A new poll has revealed that the UK housebuying public is
surprisingly ignorant about many areas of the housing market.For
example 12% of those quizzed think that mortgage rates are based on
savings account balances.Over one third (34%)believe that buying 'off-
plan' means purchasing a property without planning permission and one
in five (18%) say it means buying a property in the countryside. Only
40% got the correct definition - to buy a property before it has been
built.Another 14% believe that psychics carry out conveyancing.The
figures emerged in a study commissioned by the Property Investor
Show.Other findings in the poll revealed the public's confusion as to
