Bart Fisher, a Washington attorney who helped lead an attempt to
obtain a National League expansion franchise for Northern Virginia,
said this week that Capital Baseball Inc. will attempt to purchase a
Class AAA team and move it to Northern Virginia.
Capital Baseball has been publicly dormant since December, when
John Akridge's Metropolitan Washington Baseball was selected to
represent Washington on the NL Expansion Committee's list of six
finalists for the new teams that have been all but awarded to Miami
and Denver.
However, Fisher said Capital Baseball made a behind-the-scenes
bid this spring to purchase the Omaha Royals, the Kansas City
Royals' affiliate in the American Association. ...
