DPP chief casts doubts over area's police crime statistics

VICE-chairman of Moyle District Policing Partnership today rejected figures which show that police in the area are succeeding in the fight against crime.DUP councillor David McAllister said he "does not place much importance" in crime figures released by police because the population in the area fluctuates according to the time of year.He said: "A lot of the crime is coming into the area as tourists and holidaymakers come into the area and bring the crime with them so statistics mean nothing."However, Inspector Brian Hume from Moyle DCU defended crime figures which were revealed at the most recent meeting of the local DPP.He said the statistics were "an accurate record of the crime that has ...
