A joiner who died after he fell 10ft at a building site was not
wearing a safety harness when the accident occurred, an inquest was
told.Belfast Coroner's Court heard that Aidan James McAvoy (38), was
the foreman at a development of nine timber framed houses at Kesh
Road, Maze, when he fell through a hole in the floor of the first
storey of one of the houses on May 14, 2003.The married father-of-
four from Church Drive in Loughbrickland sustained serious head
injuries and died at the Royal Victoria Hospital two days
later.Speaking at the inquest, Jason Law, who was working with Mr
McAvoy on May 14, described the moment when his former colleague fell
through the gap left for a chimney breast ...
