A 28-year-old man died early yesterday shortly after he was
taken into custody by Prince George's County police who say they
found him wandering through Forestville in his underwear "yelling
and screaming," a police spokesman said.
Michael Funderburke, of the 7300 block of Mason Street, District
Heights, had been placed in hand and ankle cuffs to be taken for
psychiatric evaluation when his heart stopped beating and his
breathing ceased, according to police and fire department spokesmen.
Funderburke was pronounced dead at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at
Andrews Air Force base at 4:28 a.m.
