I am writing in behalf of the 550 Woodies employees who work in
our three major stores in Prince George's County as well as the many
hundreds of others in buying, administration and warehouses who
support their efforts.
We are stunned and hurt by some of the comments made by Rudy
Pyatt in his column {"Retailers' Rebuff of Prince George's County
Reflects Stupidity," Financial, July 11}. Mr. Pyatt's observation
about most major retailers choosing not to open stores in Prince
George's County is indeed correct and, in our opinion, unfortunate.
But why, we ask, is Woodies the only major retailer that Mr.
Pyatt chooses to single out specifically for unfair criticism? If
