Balmoral Show will break all records Over 420 stands for King's Hall event

The Balmoral Show has clocked up an all-time high of more than 420 trade stands, an 8% increase on 2006 figures.

Meanwhile, organisers estimate that around pound(s)3.5 million worth of heavy plant and agricultural machinery will be bought as a result of the show, running from May 16 to 18.

The machinery sector is one of the biggest revenue-generating parts of the show, featuring 23 agricultural and 14 heavy plant exhibitors.

Royal Ulster Agricultural Society chief executive Colin McDonald said that more than 70,000 visitors are expected to attend the show over the three days and exit polls show that 43% of these have no connection with agriculture.
