The Minister was speaking after participating last night with the
Lord Mayor, Councillor Jim Rodgers, in a topping-out ceremony on the
dome of the pound(s)320m Victoria Square development.
As part of the occasion, Belfast poet Michael Longley recited a
specially commissioned poem called The Dome.
The poem has been permanently inscribed in one of the pieces of
glazing in the dome.
A topping-out ceremony signals that the construction of the
superstructure has been completed, representing a major milestone in
the project.
Multi Development UK, the Dutch-owned company behind the 800,000
sq ft mixed use complex, has named March 6 next year as the opening
date.
