During her long career in nursing and especially in the home care field, Maeve Ostrowski saw the wear and tear on caregivers responsible for care of their sick or elderly family members.

"It was becoming obvious to me that these people needed a break,' she said. "In some cases the caregivers were dying before the patients."

This concern kept gnawing at her until she hit on the idea of some kind of a respite place where patients could be left for a day, a week or longer as needed to give their caregivers a break.
