Article: Dog found with throat slit near Millersville school

The trail of blood led from the parking lot of a Millersville school, through a field and across a road before petering out.

At first, county police weren't sure what it led to, and they called in several officers and a state police dog to search the area Monday morning.

No one expected to find what they soon came across. A 65-pound cream-colored labrador mix, whose throat had been slit, was found bleeding on Mattawa Court, about a mile away from Rockbridge Academy.

He was rushed to nearby Bay Country Veterinary Hospital, where he was in good condition last night. He was expected to be taken to the county's Animal Control shelter in Millersville today.
