Have any of you been to a picnic, a potluck supper or cookout this summer where baked beans have not appeared?

After just returning from a trip to New England where signs for Saturday church bean suppers are posted in many of the quaint villages, I decided that whatever the season, it's always time for baked beans.

Although my New England diet on this trip was heavy into lobster rolls and clam chowders, I do get frequent tastes of home-baked beans by virtue of the fact I'm married to a New Englander who rarely lets a week go by without baking a pot of these bubbly, syrupy morsels known as Boston baked beans.
