WHILE MS. YALE gets an A-plus, the county school system's response
to the incident could have been better.
On Thursday, a day after the incident, a letter written by Mr.
Chilipko and approved by the school system - which has the final say
over content in such issues - was sent home with students. Parents
were told a registered sex offender was spotted on school property
and urged to review safety procedures with their children. What they
weren't told, however, was that the man said he there to pick up a
student.
A school system spokesman Thursday said saying releasing any
further information could have hindered the police investigation.
County police, however, issued their own press release ...
