Offensively dead going on two nights, the Los Angeles Dodgers
caught the Atlanta Braves tonight with an unearned run in the eighth
inning, then rode Juan Samuel's ninth-inning RBI triple to a
dramatic 2-1 victory, regaining first place by a half-game in the
see-saw NL West.
Samuel's one-out liner to the right-center field gap scored Kal
Daniels, who had singled up the middle off reliever Mike Stanton.
The Dodgers' dugout emptied while Braves right fielder David Justice
was still gathering the ball, presenting hero's welcomes to Daniels
at the plate and Samuel at third.
