According to highly placed sources, it is not true that the new
Friends of Blair House, the president's guest quarters, are being
organized to buy a super-long bed in case the 6-foot-11 Senegalese
President Abdou Diouf comes to call again.
Not to make a long story out of it, but Blair House's
ever-resourceful staff - without really spending any money - made a
bed Diouf could lie on during his visit here two weeks ago.
"Belfair, which set up the great Italian antique bed for us,
told us never to move it," said Benedicte Valentiner, Blair House's
general manager. "With the canopy and curtains, it's so complicated
