Article: Buyers sue over bruised Ego Alley sale pact

A group of Severna Park investors has sued the owner of a popular City Dock restaurant, claiming he backed out of an agreement to sell the establishment and pocketed their $40,000 deposit.

In papers filed in county Circuit Court on Feb. 3, lawyers for Dock Street Enterprises allege Kenneth Knief, owner of Ego Alley Tropical Grille, undermined its efforts to purchase the restaurant by having the city cancel a hearing to transfer the restaurant's liquor license.

The lawsuit claims Mr. Knief agreed to sell the business to Dock Street for $430,000 before calling off a Jan. 9 liquor board hearing.
