BALTIMORE - The Orioles went out yesterday and played what has
become their usual uninspired brand of baseball, but more of the talk
throughout the day revolved around their troubled veteran Rafael
Palmeiro.
The Baltimore bullpen gave what has become too commonplace a
performance, allowing a game that was within hailing distance to get
out of control.
The outcome was a 6-2 loss pinned on left-handed starter Bruce
Chen, who pitched better in the first six innings than the relievers
did in their three innings of work.
Chen (11-9) took a tough loss as he allowed only two runs on five
hits while striking out five in six innings. Relievers Steve Kline
