Article: Around Crownsville: 'Classic' education at Rockbridge Academy

When other local schools opened in August, Rockbridge Academy chose a more classical opening day. Classes started the day after Labor Day with 310 students from about 191 families and representing 60 churches throughout the county.

In fact, the word classical best describes the school, located in the education building of Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church. Since opening in 1994, Rockbridge has organized its program as a "Trivium."

Headmaster Michael McKenna considers the Trivium along with the school's Biblical world-life view Rockbridge's two distinguishing factors.
