Article: West River tandem redeems selves

It's been an unusually difficult season for the top-notch Albacore team of Barney Harris and David Byron.

Since joining forces about 10 years ago, Harris and Byron have captured nearly two dozen major championships.

The duo, which races under the West River Sailing Club burgee, had ambitious plans to sweep a series of four big regattas in 2005. Instead, Harris-Byron placed third at the North Americans, seventh at the United Kingdom Nationals and fifth at the Albacore Internationals.

"It's been a disastrous season. We weren't properly prepared and we didn't sail well," admitted Harris, a resident of Alexandria, Va.
