Article: Sailing results: Schwenks sweep West River regatta West River Sailing Club

A solid fleet of 11 Jet 14 teams was treated to strong winds and challenging conditions during the Dave Irey Memorial Regatta, hosted by West River Sailing Club last weekend.

Class veterans Dirk and Stefanie Schwenk displayed superb boat speed throughout en route to winning all three races. James McKenna, an employee with Annapolis Performance Sailing, was six points behind in second.

"We had a very good day," Schwenk understated. "With long races in nutsy conditions, it gave an advantage to those with lengthy West River experience."

There was a strong battle for third with Katie Erklauer just holding off Optimist sailor R.J. Bay and Clark Kennedy.
