Regardless of ethnic roots, lots of people use St. Patrick's Day
as an excuse to eat corned beef and cabbage or, at least, wear
something green.
March 17 has become such an event, in fact, that it's much easier
to join in the celebration than ignore it. But joining in doesn't
mean that corned beef must appear on the menu. Lamb, beef or even
pastrami can be a substitute, but it is hard to have an Irish dinner
without cabbage, potatoes and carrots. And throw in some Irish soda
bread for good measure.
