What do you get when you want to swim 1.5 kilometers, bike 40 and
run 10 in Annapolis? More than three hours of debate at a City
Council meeting.
More than 30 people last night spoke in favor of and against a
proposed lease of City Dock property for the first Annapolis
Triathlon, scheduled for Sept. 9.
Sponsored by the Annapolis Triathlon Club, the event would feature
1,500 athletes swimming, bicycling and running on a course taking
them through downtown.
About 3,500 people are expected to watch the race, which would
benefit nine city-based charities. Organizers want to lease Susan C.
Campbell Park, the area around the Harbormaster's Office and Dock
Street parking spaces for $1. The lease ...
