Another concealed weapons bill is on the way to the governor's desk, some two weeks after she vetoed a gun measure sponsored by the same lawmaker.

The Senate comfortably passed S1629, which reduces the penalty for carrying a concealed weapon without a concealed weapons permit from a class 1 misdemeanor to a petty offense, on May 10.

Told of the argument that by reducing the offense it makes it easier to potentially carry out a bad deed, Johnson said "bad guys" will always have access to weapons.

"The bad guys are going to get the guns regardless. Why make it more difficult and harder for the good guys to have guns to protect themselves?" she asked.
