Biodiesel makes Pete Kosky nervous.
The vice president of Star Rentals, which leases heavy
construction equipment to many large Portland contractors, likes the
idea of an alternative, home-grown fuel, but he's unsure what running
the vegetable-oil-based fuel in his expensive equipment may do to the
engines.
"My thought on biodiesel is that it is something that offers a
great advantage environmentally," Kosky said. "My concern is that, in
an effort to move this faster, it's going to create a situation where
people are going to use biodiesel in equipment" before the engine is
technologically ready to handle it.
