COLUMBUS -- Meet Shannon Jones, who could be the Dayton area's
next best hope to retain some clout in the state legislature.
That's a lot to ask from the first-term Republican state
representative from Springboro in Warren County.
But this is the term-limits era. Everybody has to do his or her
part. There's no time to waste, literally.
Jones, 37, this month was named assistant majority whip in the
House by her fellow Republicans. It's the lowest of six House GOP
leadership spots but could be a stepping stone to something better
in 2009.
Jones may be a rookie but by then she'll be a crafty veteran.
That's because of inevitable wholesale changes in House
leadership.
